FAQ
What is a drive-in listening party?
In previous years, we have hosted a CD release party at a local venue but due to the restrictions of the global pandemic, we are taking this opportunity to create an engaging event that will garner community support, provide a safe family-friendly outing, and allow us to celebrate the students that made this project happen in the midst of the 2020 quarantine.
The album will be streamed from beginning to end by WXNA on March 28th from 3-4 pm during their Teen Power Radio Hour. You come and park your car, we give you free snacks, a program, and other fun goodies provided by our sponsors, and we all sit back and listen to the album together.
What COVID-19 precautions will be in place at the event?
The safety of our event attendees, volunteers, and GWN staff is of the upmost importance to us. Guests will be asked to remain in their cars for the entirety of the event. Day of volunteers and all GWN staff will have their tempertures checked before the event and will be required to wear appropriate PPE.
Upon entry, attendees will be given a grab bag through their car windows and we ask that everyone in the car stays masked during this exchange.
Monetary donations can be handed through car windows if attendees are masked or can be accepted virtually.
Who can participate?
Anyone who wants to support Girls Write Nashville programming! This is an event intentionally designed to welcome all. We hope you will bring your families and enjoy the excuse for a weekend outing which has become so rare in this pandemic.
If you do not live in Nashville but would still like to participate, you can listen along at WXNAfm.org
Your students made an album?
YES! Every year students in our All-City Artists Guild record an original compilation album. This year, Sing Through the Quarantine is a remotely recorded compilation album written and produced by teenagers.
Each student wrote a “song from quarantine” and then worked on recording their own songs at home, most of them using a simple setup of their phones and a free cloud-based recording app called Bandlab for Education. Songs were then passed around to local female studio musicians to help complete the tracks. The result is an inspiring, entirely remotely-recorded album of youth-written songs about life in 2020.
Does the Drive-In Listening Party cost money?
Nope! It's totally FREE but please RSVP using the button above.
How can I help if I can't make the event?
Thank you for your interest! Even if you can't make the event we would sincrely appreciate your donation, merch purchase, sharing on social meida, and buying or streaming the album (it can be found on all platforms).
