I. Tuition

Loudmouth Community Music Education offers two tuition tracks for enrolled students:

  1. Artists-In-Residence (recommended for optimal learning)

Integrate a music practice into your life by subscribing to a weekly private lesson slot or guild with one of our teaching artists.

Lessons and Guilds are billed every four weeks to the card you register with at the time of enrollment. One-on-one lesson fees are $100 for four 30 minute lessons completed within that 4 week period.

Students schedule their own 4 lessons at the time of their monthly billing. We highly recommend you schedule the same time slot week to week and you will have priority access to this timeslot. We find that students overwhelmingly achieve the best outcomes with this kind of consistency in their practice.

If there is a scheduling conflict, you may schedule that lesson at a different day/time or double up lessons during another week within that 4-week subscription period. Booked lessons cannot be canceled/refunded, but may be rescheduled by the student up to 48 hours in advance. Less than 48 hours in advance, a lesson time cannot be rescheduled out of respect for the schedules of our teachers.

Guilds + Open Mics fees are $40 for four 40-minute Guilds completed within a 4 week period from booking.

Students reserve their spot in their Guild for the upcoming four weeks at the same time as their monthly billing. When your card is billed, you will receive an email notification prompting you to reserve your spot in your Guild. If you have a scheduling conflict with the Guild, you may instead book a replacement time in any of our Open Mics!

Booked guilds/open mics cannot be canceled/refunded, but may be rescheduled by the student up to 48 hours in advance. Less than 48 hours in advance, a Guild spot cannot be rescheduled out of respect for the schedules of our teachers.

  2. Visiting Artists - (for new students or for when you are not sure you can commit to weekly yet!)

Schedule a single 30-minute lesson with a teaching artist or a group guild meeting.

Desired lesson slots or guilds must be manually selected by you on our website’s Acuity scheduler. Once you schedule a lesson or sign up for a guild as a Visiting Artist you cannot cancel that slot! Lessons and Guild spots may be rescheduled up to 48 hours in advance.

Artists-In-Residence receive scheduling priority, so in the event that one of their four-week sessions conflicts with the time slot you signed up for, you will receive options for rescheduling. We will offer reschedule slots as close to your original appointment as possible.

A word about our tuition tracks and Coronavirus:

We know that in times of uncertainty, such as 2020’s Covid-19 outbreak, students and families need flexibility. In our commitment to serving our community’s needs, we have provided the Visiting Artist track as an option for when a weekly commitment feels premature. It is important to note that research consistently shows that music students of all ages see enhanced learning, an increased ability to express themselves musically, and long-term growth through weekly programming. As such, we encourage students to switch to our Artists-In-Residence track after participating in several weeks as a Visiting Artist.

***It is also important to note that since you are in control of booking your lesson times each 4-week cycle, that if your schedule changes, you can easily change your lesson time according to your teachers' schedule.

II. What you can expect from our teaching artists

  1. We will always treat families and students with respect and kindness.

  2. We will commit to meeting each student where they are, and go the extra mile to match their learning style.

  3. We will respond to any questions or concerns in a timely and professional manner during our hours of operation.

  4. We will be punctual and prepared.

  5. We will train all teachers to approach teaching through a trauma-informed lens, using our research-driven original curriculum.

  6. We will be a champion of you and/or your child!

III. Ways you can help make lessons the best they can be...

  1. Be on time to all scheduled lessons, classes, and Guilds! Classes occurring on Zoom are especially time sensitive, and we are unable to wait to begin class if you are running late.

  2. Do your best to keep your/your child’s lesson time in mind when scheduling appointments, as we are unable to reschedule a pre-paid lesson that is cancelled with less than 48-hours’ notice.

  3. Support your child or yourself in creating a strong practice routine by keeping a clean practice space in your home, and making instruments easily accessible. We encourage our students to not just “practice” music, but to create a true “musical practice” in their lives.

IV. Other stuff you may need

On top of tuition, families may be responsible for additional expenses associated with our services.

Typical foreseeable expenses are:

  1. A functional, properly sized instrument

  2. A clip-on tuner or smartphone tuner app (for guitar, ukulele, violin, viola lessons)

  3. A notebook

  4. A method book (specific method book name will be provided by each teaching artist)

  5. Sheet music purchased online

V. Lesson cancellation policy

Our lesson cancellation policies below apply to students in both our Visiting Artist and our Artist-In-Residence Tracks.

If one of our teaching artists needs to cancel for any reason, they will offer the following:

  1. A rescheduled lesson

  2. If a reschedule is not possible, a qualified and background checked substitute to fill in during the lesson slot

Lessons and Guilds spots cannot be canceled, but if a student needs to reschedule their time for a future date, they may easily do so online with 48-hours notice. With 48-hours notice, a client may, on their own, reschedule their lesson or Guild spot online. Students are responsible for manually scheduling a make-up lesson on our online scheduler.

If a student provides less than 48 hours notice, or does not show up, we are unable to provide a make-up lesson or a refund.

Remember that when signing up for lessons, you are purchasing a time slot with a professional and carefully selected teaching artist. To ensure that we are able to maintain the most qualified teaching staff possible for our students, it is imperative we uphold this agreement.

VI. Cancellation of an Artist-In-Residence Subscription

To cancel a subscription, we require 30-days’ notice, as we hold each student’s weekly lesson slot the duration of a month. If you cancel a subscription and fail to provide 30-days notice, you will continue to be billed for your weekly lesson slot for the remainder of 30 days.
